I thought you would all enjoy seeing my finished paper pieced girl with umbrella. I was laying this out on the table getting it ready to quilt when I had to piece my batting. I laid 2 pieces of batting out over the wall hanging and then cut them so I would have a straight edge of batting on each piece to butt against. I forgot I had my wall hanging underneath and ended up cutting it right in half.  ARGHHHHH!  I was able to stipple quilt over it in smaller stipples so you can't really tell but I was dumbfounded at first.  Hope you enjoy it. I got the pattern on Craftsy - I'd have to check but it may be a Quiet Play pattern.

So I thought I would share a picture of a quilt I made back in 2014. This was from a jelly roll put together by a local quilt shop and I used their pattern. The thing that makes this quilt so interesting is that I finished it up to the first white border and then I had a gift certificate from my sister for this local quilt shop so I decided to have them quilt it. Once I got it back, I realized I wanted it to fit our queen size bed and it didn't quite fit without an additional border. For some strange reason, I saved the small colored scraps when I cut my blocks down and I was able to make this tiny little border to go all the way around the quilt and frame it out. Because the quilt was already quilted, I then quilted with straight line quilting an additional white border, adding the small border to that and then attaching it all to the quilt. I love to see this quilt all messed up on our bed right now.  It's beautiful tones of teals and greys which I would never have put together on my own.

Hello there blogger world.....

I'm new at this and just trying to get my feet wet. So I came up with my blog name because anyone that has done any kind of craft and has a spare bedroom turns it into either an office or if you can persuade your spouse... a craft room. Well that is how my craft room came about. When I married my hubby 12 years ago, I had a craft room in the home I owned and so we agreed we would sell my home and move into his as long as I could take his "somewhat" office and make it a craft room. This is the room I could spends hours in and escape into my own little world. My hubby has come to realize that this room creates a calm in me that only creating can do. Whether it's sewing, scrapbooking, card making or anything else, I've tried it all. This room is where it happens!

I hope this blog will inspire you like so many blogs have inspired me. I am retiring at the end of 2016 and will have more time to share my ideas. I hope you will follow me on this journey.
